when you were young & your heart was an open book you use to saylive & let live --------------------- but if this ever-changing world in which we live in makes you give in and cry
Barefooted feet shifted through the silk-like sands of the Hatching grounds as Kazen Ann Hayne happily made her way through. She held herself tall within these lands; because she was the confident sort. Not showy, but standoffish in a way. She knew how to make things happen herway. The sun warmed her ginger hair like that of heating lamp. She understood why females nested here... the warmth for their young...
The hatchlings! With bright bown pools searching for her Bonded, she pushed up over a dune hill to peer out. Was it here? ”Couldn't hurt...”
but as confident as she had always meade herself appear, she could not hide the fear that crawled at her spine and made her shiver... Would it come to her now? Was she not good enough?
Nonsense!

All the faint teal and black speckled egg had ever known was the warmth and heat of the hatching grounds. Until this day there had been only darkness, endless days of growth and pointless thought.
Then she entered. The moment she was near, it was as if the little hatchling had begun to thaw. Tingles spread across her entire body, and she shifted inside the egg. She pushed against her shell, willing herself free of it to join her bonded on the sands above. However the small size of her egg had caused her to be forgotten, and burried under layer after later of sand. She wailed from inside the egg, trying to free herself. At last a crack appeared, and she wormed her way through it to slide up onto the sands. The little creature was no bigger than a 2 pound kitten, and was thoroughly so small and delicate she might have been mistaken for a lizard. She unfurled her small wings, and let out a high pitched squeak.
"Mother!"
She wailed, and turned towards her bonded with shining eyes. She longed to touch, to feel, to be near. She never wanted to be anywhere else, and knew she never would be. Pointless thought had led her to understand perfectly who she was, and she was a whimsical, innocent young thing who longed for nothing more than to be loved by her bonded. She ran as fast as her small legs would carry her towards the girl, squeaking as loudly as she could though it was barely an audible tone. Even at full size, the little thing would never be larger than a medium sized Extra Small.

when you were young & your heart was an open book you use to saylive & let live --------------------- but if this ever-changing world in which we live in makes you give in and cry
Steady hands reached instinctively for her blouse when the gusting winds of the warm desert started up again in monotone flurries, buffeting her rather small body as she moved. Her naked feet drug in the sand and her bright red threads whipped against her apple red cheeks. This was not like any of the other times she had come to the Hatching grounds, she knew, because she was aware of the deep, desiring feeling in the pit of her stomach. A desire to be held, and touched… It was rather odd. She wanted to be near someone? Loved? Since when!? Picking her eyes back up over the landscape, Kazen Hayne listened carefully for life.
At the moment she finally spared a glance into the sky, it came. All at once there was a pressurized click then it was done. Her eyes remained glued to the sky with wide, shocked pools of soft browns. Too shocked to move, she slowly let her head fall back to the vista. I-I’m Coming! Don’t leave! Don’t leave me!” In her mind, a soft, female voice echoed as clear as if the thought had been her own. Was she going mad? Or had she finally made the bond? With a sudden excitement taking the place of her fear, she looked down at the clutch where her Bonded had emerged. It seemed as though the egg had been buried long ago. Forgotten, almost. She was so small, Kazen wanted to hold her close… That was the feeling they shared. Between the bond, their emotions were intertwined like the brushing of lips to a tender kiss. With a curl of a smile, Kazen’s plum lips parted to speak. What a spry little thing her Dragon was…
”Now why would I do such a thing as that?” she chuckled vividly and dropped to her knees, opening up her arms to catch the small Dragonette where she could be as close as possible. Being and Extra Small Greyling dragon, she was merely cat size as a Hatchling, and Kazen couldn’t help but smile. As did her Bonded as she nuzzled Kazen’s shirt front affectionately. Bright blue eyes turning to her face admiringly. ”We need a name, now, don’t we?” in a motherly way, the girl touched a finger to her mammal-like dragon and giggled. The Greyling opened its mouth to speak, her voice coming in another high-pitched squeak. ”I want to be called Adele! I like it as much as I love you!” naïve and wishful, young Adele bounced in Kazen’s arms. ”Then Adele it is! Shall we find ourselves something to eat?” No doubt Adele was hungry. They all were.
