OWNER OF A LONELY HEART ;much b e t t e r than an, owner of a broken heart . Triste rose up on her strong hind legs, stretched her neck and opened her jaws. Christian winced at the loud roar that erupted from the dragon’s agape mouth, and he felt her satisfaction so strong it was almost tangible. “Do you have to show off so much, Tris?” he asked, voice teasing and light. Triste lowered her front paws back to the ground, her sleek, ivory claws cutting into the sod. She shook herself, scales rippling and arched her neck elegantly, a smile—top lip pulling back from the side of her mouth and nose wrinkling—revealing pearly fangs.
Not showing off, hatchling. Practicing.
Her emerald eye flashed, the irises bright in the sunlight. He didn’t argue with her, but closed the distance between the two. He rested his hands on her shoulder, as he did at her hatching, and moment of peace and understanding passed between them. He leaned against her side, her wing coming down and up to hold him protectively, and he felt her deep sigh reverberate through her chest.
Soon we will fly, Christian. We will own the sky, you and I, and we will make a way for us where there is none.
Her deep voice painted a clear, tempting picture. One he felt proud of, one that they would make happen. He wondered briefly at flying, what it would take, how it would feel.
Glorious. We’re made for the sky.
He smiled faintly, “You are, but I see no wings for me.” He raised his brow, head still rested against her dark mottled scales. He felt her amusement. I will share mine, hatchling. We are one now.
“One…” he murmured to himself.
Indeed.
He leaned away only slightly, but Triste knew what he wanted and withdrew her wing, folding it neatly against her side. She lowered her head, twisting her neck around to look deep in her Bonded’s eye. It had been a month since her hatching, and Christian had quickly become what her life revolved around. He was her bond-mate; she would live and die for him, and he for her.
We must become strong, she growled, blinking an eye slowly. He agreed, and let her feel it, and she rumbled her pleasure, the sound akin to a cat’s purr. He grinned slightly, placing his hands on her cheeks and leaning his forehead to her snout. She snorted softly, her breath hot and rancid from the kill she had made the hour before.
They stayed that way for a long while, sharing thoughts and feelings, and enjoying each other’s company as the Bonded should. _________________________

Vierence clutched to the tree branches, his claws ripping the bark and exposing the tender green wood beneath. His bright orange eyes nearly glowed in the shadows, the heat from his body making the air ripple around him. He had something to show Katence, something he was quite pleased with. He knew he was the only hatchling from his clutch that could do it yet, he was stronger than the rest. A given thing of course, he was easily the best of the lot. He had chosen well to pick Katence not to mention, together they had trained hard. He leaped from the branch, and landed roughly on the ground. The moss beneath his claws browned and withered away from the heat, and he smiled as he imagined their screams of pain. He lifted his head as he heard the pathetic mewling of another hatchling. He scoffed, and chuckled to himself. Sounds like someone's trying to be all tough. He though for Katence, his tone amused and condescending. Katence, who leaned against the trunk of a tree with a sly expression on her face, snickered in response. Their success in training and recent advancement had filled her with pride and vanity. Like she needed any other reason to love herself more. She already knew she was smarter than everyone else, and prettier. She could wave her hand and people would come running at her beck and call. She was Fire Queen for god's sake. What a shame she also had to be the most powerful. "Lets go see who shall we Vier?" She said, her voice smooth and toxic. He turned and ran through the trees, and she followed at a slower pace. It wasn't long before she heard Vier stop and snarl at the other Elementals, and as she ducked under a low branch and straightened up, she could see why. "Mmm... Tainted Air, how charming. We should have that cleaned."She muttered. Vierence smirked and spat a small puff of smoke at the other female. He wasn't ready to show his Bonded what he had learned yet, even the smoke was something most hatchlings wouldn't be able to do. Katence smiled, pleased with herself and her Dragon. ooc: for candi <3

OWNER OF A LONELY HEART ;much b e t t e r than an, owner of a broken heart . Triste stiffened and a growl escaped Christian’s lips. They pulled apart, and the green mottled dragon’s tail lashed violently from side to side, her nostrils flaring delicately as she sniffed the air. Christian’s eyes roved out around them, his senses ranging out as he identified the scent that his dragon had picked out of the slightly humid air. Another dragon was nearby, and his Bonded as well.
Christian shot a look at Triste, but she wasn’t paying attention to him. Her lip was pulled back from her fangs, revealing the black gums beneath, and silent snarl was emanating from her.
Tris? he thought, and her scales rippled, her claws digging into the soft earth at her feet.
A crash, and a flash in the corner of his eye made him snap around to see the other dragon barreling from the forest. Christian straightened, noticing right away that this dragon was larger than Triste, and wielded the Fire element. Triste stalked back toward Christian, massive wings opening with a great gust of wind that was a warning and a threat.
Christian’s blue eyes narrowed, locked on the dragon for another instant before they flickered over to the pale, black-haired girl that stepped from the trees behind him. He pursed his lips at her words, and Triste snarled wordlessly, snapping her jaws at the dragon.
“Just as we should put out the fire?”
Christian’s words were soft, but a derisive smile laced his lips like poison in the next instant. Triste’s wings rustled, and she straighten to her full height, still smaller and shorter than the Fire dragon. Her eyes appraised him, her body clearly hostile, and she didn’t once spare a glance for the puny girl Christian addressed. She cared not for one human beside her Bonded. Let Christian deal in what he knew, and she in her own knowledge. _________________________

Katence let out a chuckle that was reminiscent of a pur, and leaned her shoulders against a tree carelessly. She studied her nails for a moment as if considering his words and allowed her hands to warm enough that a bit of steam rose from them. "Oh my darlings, don't you know? Oxygen only makes a flame bigger and brighter. Or did you not learn that it your schools." She said smoothly, turning to look at him slyly out of the corner of her eye. Vierence eyed her out of the corner of his eye and chuckled, and winked slyly at the other female just to annoy her. He was highly amused her her attempt to make herself bigger, and was sorely tempted to just spit a bunch of smoke at her. Katence ran a hand through her loose hair, and smiled at the boy. "Oh me, but where are my manners?" "What manners?"Cut in Vierence with a snicker. One side of Katence's lips lifted in a smirk, revealing ever so slightly the pearly white teeth beneath. "This is true. But all the same, I shall introduce myself anyway." Vierence, prancing over-dramatically around his bonded like some kind of servant, whistled the tune of a trumpet about to introduce someone important. She half heartedly kicked out at him, and he avoided easily snickering. "Katence Silvaedre. And this beast is Vierence." She didn't mention she was fire, if he hadn't figured that out she'd need to spank some brains into him. ooc: for candi <3 EDIT: Ok, this was about 200 words longer until some things on ITD changed and all the royals are no longer royals and Katence is still a Beginner xD So I appologize for how insanely short it is.

OWNER OF A LONELY HEART ;much b e t t e r than an, owner of a broken heart . Christian’s eyes narrowed slightly on the girl, but Triste remained frozen, a statue of a dragon with the slight rise and fall of her chest to indicate life.
“Oxygen, perhaps. But Air can blow your flaming ass out, regardless,” he said with a cock of his eyebrow. Triste snorted, and her eyes slid over to the female he addressed, ignoring the antics of her dragon. She was small, insignificant. Christian heard her thoughts, and grinned, shooting her an amused look. Triste’s lip curled up her fang slightly, and a condescending laugh whistled up her throat.
Christian watched the exchange between the girl and her dragon, thinking he could just choke on the narcissism in the air.
He glanced over at Triste once more as they said their names, a long pause drawn out between them before he looked back at the girl—Katence—and the dragon—Vierence—and nodded.
“Christian will do, and my dragon is Triste, and I wouldn’t shorten it unless you’re asking for your ass on silver platter,” he added.
Triste snarled fully, teeth exposed, and blew a breathe of hot air in Vierence’s direction in agreement. She never talked to strangers. Talking was a human thing, and one she only indulged in with Christian because he was her Bonded, and not as idiotic as most of his race. Christian sent her a mental shove, and she shoved back, harder, and watched the ghost of a scowl appear on his face.
She settled back on her haunches, bored already. When you’re finished playing with the Fires, can we go? I haven’t eaten in four hours, and my belly is clawing at me in hunger, she sent privately into her Bonded’s mind. Christian sent her an affirmative, along with some annoyance that she ignored. Her unreadable eyes passed over Katence and Vierence after that, uncaring and apathetic. _________________________
