Why are we going into the town? His voice was soft, like her own, and pleasing to the ears. And he seemed the blend in perfectly, hidden beneath the curtain of her coppery curls as he rode, sprawled across her shoulders. Her wingless little Cadeon, the only friend she had in this new world that she had been cast into. "We are here, little one, because I must learn about where I am. The culture, society. Is there a certain language? Will I, an outsider, be accepted?" She cast a side-long glance at the usually happy little male. It appeared that, whenever she grew upset of confused, his chipper mood turned sultry. As though he could not figure out why she was not also happy. The corners of her scarlet lips tilted upwards at the thought and she reached up, stroking the Dragon's small head. I don't think that I really need to hide, Sorcha... Cadeon had poked his head out from beneath her hair and was looking around. All around the pair, humans and Dragons alike went about their business. So many races and breeds, colors assailing her eyes. So many... Most had wings, though she spotted a select few that were larger versions of her Cadeon. "More Scarlet Flowers?" She had asked the youngster questions throughout the few days that they had explored the island until he had run out of answers, which was shortly before they had reached the town. What were the Dragon breeds? How were they different, and how common was each? Their colors? And what was this place? What was the bond that they had called? And was it common? He had answered those, and now she could see that the Bond was, indeed, a common occurrence. "Mo Deidre."
Finally they came upon what seemed to be the library. Or at least a book store. Relief swept through her when she found that it was, indeed, a library. She had no money, since everything had gone down with the cruise ship. Soft laughter escaped her when her hatchling stood up on her shoulder, resting on his haunches, and chortled his pleasure at the sight of so many books. Sorcha, you could learn everything in here! This drew a much more noticeable bit of laughter from the pale girl, and people looked up at her with frowns. If not frowning at her laughter, they were frowning at her clothing. Her silk blouse of royal blue was faded now and ruined from the salt water, her jeans ragged and torn. at least she had rinsed her hair in a clear and saltless creek. "No, Cadeon, I'm not quite sure that one can ever learn everything anywhere." Sorcha had begun to gaze at the backs of books, occasionally pulling one out if it seemed helpful, and sticking to books with titles such as History of Inhale, Wars of Our Time, The Bonded, and All About Dragons and Phoenixes. "I do think that these will tide us over for a bit, yeah?" she asked Cadeon as she sat down at a table with her stack of books, most old and leather-bound. Opening the one about Dragons and the birds of flame, and inhaling deeply and Cadeon settled into her lap, she began. And soon, she was enthralled with the pages, her eyes taking in many descriptive pictures and devouring the words. All the while, her free hand stroked over the Dragon Hatchling's spine as though he were a large cat, drawing purring croons from his mottle-reds and golden form.

Katence stoked the spine of an enormous leather bound volume, her fingers caressing the familiar shape of the the pounded hide. Katence Silvaedre, Queen of Fire, would have smiled and heated the book until it shriveled into ashes, falling to the floor with words forgotten. But here today, she was not a Queen. She was not even Katence for that matter, for a Queen would not be permitted to work like a commoner. Especially not a Queen everyone disliked. She smirked. It amused her how easily she could disguise herself, it was as if people only saw what they wanted to see and as no one wanted to see the Queen they saw simply Nissle, the intelligent book girl. All it took was a different style of makeup, less... obvious clothes, and an accent and no one was any the wiser. Obvious she had to leave Vierence somewhere else and claim to have no dragon, but that was easily done. Vierence was happy to train on his own without the critical eye of Katence on him all the time. She looked up, gray-blue eyes catching on the redhead and her dragon pouring over the books regarding Bonds and Training. Recently hatched by the looks of them, and most certainly Fire. Katence would have gone over and made certain the girl knew her place. However, it was Nissle's job to assist those who entered the store so she approached with an easy, friendly smile. "Can I help you find anything?" She said, her voice clear and crisp, just as Katence wanted it to be. ooc: for cre <3

She looked up, her body going still as her own silvery-blue eyes met those of the other female's. "Oh, no... I do beleave that I have managed to find what I need." She cast the woman an easy smile, though there were chills running down her spine. Would she know that Sorcha was not from this seemingly enchanted world? Or that she knew absolutely nothing about what she had been thrown into? well, not absolutely nothing, now. She had just finnished the first book and opened another when she had been spoken to. A soft growl left Cadeon's throat, causing the red-haired girl to look down. "Shh, little one." she crooned, stroking over his spine with a gentle and steady hand. She had already found out that her companion was the curiouse sort, much like herself, and met very few strangers. Of course, that last bit had been trained into her through her working as a waitress in Dublin. You had to be nice. Open and friendly, always smiling or flirting. Or both. She knew well, and he would learn, that life outside of the pub was much... Different. She looked back at the book, then up at the stranger. "I'm... Sorry... But what is this town called?" She hid her frown with a pleasent smile as Cadeon's voice sounded in her mind, a warning tone to it. Sorcha...

Curious eyes scanned the other girl with a haughty gaze, taking in the obviously ruined blouse with a disdainful look. What the hell had the girl been doing to ruin her clothes so easily? She, Katence, knew how to take care of clothes, a skill this girl had apparently not yet learned. When the red head asked her question, Katence almost laughed at her but restrained herself to an amused smile. Hmmm. Ruined clothes. Doesn't know here she is... Vierence's thoughts on the matter broke into her own thoughts, and she agreed whole heartedly. Obviously the girl was a stranger in town. Perhaps others wouldn't notice, but Katence hadn't become Queen for nothing. She was smart, observant, and it was her job to know about the people in her alliance. "Not from around here huh?" Katence said, raising an eyebrow. ooc: for cre <3

Her eyes narrowed at the other woman's question. She could almost feel the scruteny in her gaze, and that made her all the more agitated. She had never skimped when it came to the price of her clothing, and it was not her fault that the cruise ship had sunk due to some freak accident! "Well, miss, I wasn't exactly born here." Sorcha rested her elbow on the table and rested her chin on the heel of her hand, flashing the other a smart-ass grin. She had never been one to answer stupid questions with an answer that wasn't insinuating. "Well, Cade," She picked the red creature up and cradled him to her chest as she stood. "I think that we have learned what we can for today. Better luck next time, yeah?" As an after thought, she opened the book on the history and skimmed the first page. Inhale was the Island, but nothing on the town there. She she gathered the books with her free hand, pulling them to the edge and putting her hand under them where they hung over the edge, moving them with her fingers until they rested perfectly on her palm, lifted to the level of her shoulder. Waitressing for three years had it perks.

Katence smirked when the girl shot back a quick retort, her voice full of the Fire that was her element. It was lucky for the girl that Katence liked her job, or she'd show her a little bit of the Fire that she herself possessed. She wasn't Fire Queen for nothing, she was the strongest Fire user around. "A foreigner eh? That would explain why you stick out like a sore thumb. Might want some new clothes unless you want people asking questions." She returned with a like gaze that clearly said "don't waste your time". She watched with arms crossed as she watched the girl pick up dragon and books and begin to leave. She had two options. Be a prick and nettle the girl some more just because she could, or ignore her and go back to work. She had to admit, her curiosity was spiked. Who was this girl that she wasn't born on Inhale? Not to mention the state of her clothes. Nettle it was. "Checking those out I hope? Wouldn't want you to screw up the training of your dragon because you weren't born here dear." She said with a sickeningly sweet tone even though she was really only a good 7 or 8 years older than the teenager. "Seeing as how it's a tricky business and all, or so I'm told." She shrugged, her pale eyes glinting as she spoke with a carefree tone. ooc: for cre <3

"I will check one out eventually." Sorcha replied in the same sweet and innocent tone. "for now, I beleave that I have read over all I must to be able to at least scrape by." She chuckled when Cadeon made his way to her shoulder to free her other hand, allowing her to find the places that the books belonged and put them back. But perhaps this woman knew something, and so she turned to her after the books were all in place, and even with the spines of others. Alright, she had minor OCD. "Yes, I have lived my entire life elsewhere. The ship I was on had some sort of malfunction and exploded beneath, sinking it." Sorcha shrugged, as though she couldn't really care less about the details of how or why she was here. "I can actually say that I am happy about it." Her hand lifted to rest on Cadeon's neck. "But, alas, this had lead me into... a situation." Naturally, she needed coin of some sort for clothing, or the materials to make her own. And she was not one to ask for charity when she was perfectly capable of work.

Katence watched with an annoyed smirk as the girl put the books back one by one with care. Just because she could, the moment the red-head stepped away from the books, Katence stepped forward.
One by one, she re-straightened the books, re-ordered them, and wiped each one clean with a pointed look at the girl's dirty clothing. With a smile, she put the last one away and turned back to the girl while wiping her hands on her perfect white pants.
"Mmm. Fascinating I'm sure."
She said with a sneer. Not really. Sounded like a lie to her, boats exploding? Bah! More likely she was some poor, mental wretch with not a penny to her name. Stuck with a flightless dragon too what was more. Katence raised an eyebrow and shrugged.
"Sucks for you."
She said, making it clear she really didn't care.
Wouldn't it be more productive to be liked by your subjects?
Vierence suggested lazily from his practice zone miles away.
Remember?
Oh yes, how could I forget. We're the intelligent ones swimming in a sea of morons.
They both laughed, though Katence only in her mind. Her expression never wavered from the falsely polite look she had begun with.

Sorcha pinched her forhead between her thumb and forfinger, feeling heat on her cheeks. She knew that she blushed a lot more than most, which made others think that she was embaressed. Suprisingly, that was the one emotion that she rarely blushed. Right now, she was about to lose her even-temper. "Listen hre, you little bitch." her voice was calm and even, but cold; Like the undisturbed sea. "My blouse might be ruined by salt water and there might be a hole in my jeans. But gods damn it, I'm not irresponsible enough to come in here with a layer of filth!" When she looked up at the other woman, the blue had drained from her eyes, leaving them a brilliant silver color. "So stop being a snobby little wretch, looking at me as though you're my superior." She had always hated authority figures, save for her father. Sorcha had been known to do things her own way, but at least they got done so no one could bitch. "Now then, if you're looking for someone to pester and upset, go right on ahead. But it damned sure wont be me." Sorcha turned, placing her clean hand on the back of a book for a moment as though she were going to pull it out, then changed her mind. She would learn about this world on her own if she had to, rather than be pestered by some bloody high-browed wench. As an after thought, as she walked away, she looked over her shoulder with her own false smile and in a honey-sweet voice, she called out, "Have a nice day! Bitch."
Ooc: Sorry it took so long. Got caught up an a Siren kick. -chuckles-
