OWNER OF A LONELY HEART ;much b e t t e r than an, owner of a broken heart . It’d been a while.
Christian had never been here, to the hatching grounds, of course. But the island had been home. For years. It was home again, and he was relieved, but secretly. He didn’t know why he felt he had to hide the sensation, but he did. The tug was there, centered in his chest, but pulling his whole body along with it. It had led him back to the island, and now here. He wasn’t an idiot, Christian was born and raised on Inhale, he knew what he was feeling. And he was sure, if he wanted to, he could resist the pull that was leading him to his dragon. He just didn't want to.
He wasn’t dressed for hiking in the middle of no where, but once he made his mind up, he wasn’t going to pause to change into something more appropriate. Besides, he didn’t have anything appropriate for hiking; it was disgusting.
His lips were chapped, and he licked them. Nervously.
“Alright, ya damnable dragons… where the hell are you.”
He pushed his sweaty hair from his forehead, blues eyes narrowing into the far distance. He kept moving, feet dragging in the sand, and ignored most of the discomfort he was feeling. He would be damned if this wasn’t worth the trouble. His reasoning for being here wasn’t solid enough for doubts to be deterred. What if his dragon didn’t like him? Hardly anyone else did, at least after they’ve stuck around long enough.
Growing up, he never even wanted to be Bonded. _________________________

What was it that she sensed, dislike? Distrust? Unwillingness? Bah! She would teach her bonded a lesson. Did the fool think a dragon was unworthy of him? No, it was the other way around. He was not worthy of her.
She freed herself form her egg with ease, sliding from the egg with practiced ease though there had been no practice involved. Surveying her surroundings with a bored eye, she noticed her human lumbering around like a moron and sighed. Couldn't they have found her someone better? Of course not.
She walked over to him with her elegant head held high, her slick body moving like a cat as she approached.
"Yes, and I don't like you either. However we both must get used to it."
She said in reply to his general dislike of having a dragon. She was his bonded, she knew his every thought though she wished she didn't at this moment.

OWNER OF A LONELY HEART ;much b e t t e r than an, owner of a broken heart . Christian shifted his weight to his other foot, waiting with an expression of unreadable proportions. On one hand, he didn’t want to be here. On the other, his curiosity that drove him to know everything that he could was intrigued. He was paying attention, so when a sleek, newborn dragon stood to it’s full height, it’s large and intelligent eye looking at him, he noticed. He paused, surveying the dark mottled green coloring of the creature as it walked toward him, it’s step confident and graceful.
Christian’s body responded to the dragon, and he took a step toward it, knowing in that instant that it was his bond partner.
And then he heard it.
Yes, and I don’t like you either. However we both must get used to it.
His eyes widened slightly, pupils narrowing. A female? For whatever reason, when Christian imagined having a dragon, it was never female.
His dragon snorted, a peculiar sound that vibrated in her broad chest, and arching her neck, she tilted her head and peered down at him with one bright emerald eye.
Surprise, her voice echoed in his mind, and he shook his head slowly. He could feel her emotions like his own, and suddenly, he drew closer and layed a hand on her shoulder, an apology in his eyes. “I'm—”
Christian.
“— … but what should we call you?”
His dragon revealed pearl-white teeth, and took a long time to respond. Christian watched her, feeling her mull the question over, and stayed silent. Triste, she finally said, pride there in her voice.
Christian grinned slightly, and the two of them stared at each other for a long moment. “I want you,” Christian said after a moment, hesitant but sure. He had never wanted anything more in his life than this magnificent dragon that could share his thoughts and feelings like no one else.
Then we will get along, Triste rumbled, her hot breath tickling his cheek. She was pleased. _________________________
