THE WIND CALLED OUR NAME, LIKE THE VOICES IN OUR HEADS... BUT THIS TIME; WE WERE READY TO ANSWER.
Many years ago, when the world seemed of a newer sort, Dragons roamed the face of each continent. Their sizes, breeds and coloring varied between each region. Beside them, lived thousands to millions of developing Humans. They went their own course, and tradition began to spread like wild fire. From a crack in the balance of life... chaos erupted. With so many humans disrupting the land of the dragons they had at one point shared the land with peacefully, the Humans became greedy and selfish. They cared not for the massive creatures that had settled there long before them, but that they expanded their territories. Pushing the great creatures further out of their homelands, the Dragons began acting upon their nature; attacking all that trespassed. Along with their removal, the giant lizard’s food sources were also killed off and scared away. Many Dragons died from starvation, while others looked towards the livestock of the settlers. In a desperate vicious circle, wars broke out between human and Dragon until both were on their last legs. But it was the Human race that prevailed; weakened in numbers by the recent starvation catastrophe, the Dragons were greatly outnumbered by flooding Human forces. In fear that the Dragons posted greater threat to the human’s growing numbers, they forced the Dragons to leave the continents (although, because they were greatly respected, many Asian breeds remained in Asia.)
It was by instinct that they found the Island of Inhale”, named by the wise dragons upon arrival because of the great relief they felt when they were finally at peace. Already settles upon the island, Phoenix took to the skies, but in determination and compromises, were able to freely share the island with one another. For years they lived; building back up their numbers and thriving greater than before.
But like all good things, worry was sent through the heart of every creature with the onset of a foreign ship… But little did they know what had awoken when their boats kissed the virgin isle… Fearing the same would grow into what had been before, the Eldest of the dragons bound a tie on the land; binding the heart of one dragon to a particular human, but only time would tell if they would arrive. With this, the spirits of the elements were brought to the surface, only strengthening what had been done.
All three races coexisted for twenty years, and in the ground breaking 2010, no one of the old world knew of the creatures they had once struggled for power with. They ignored the distant memories…
Slowly, small ships came into contact with the island, but few stayed. Along with a group of Lycanthropes who’s blood was thought to have been better off in a controlled environment where they would not be in fear of living their lives. Inhale offered them sanctuary. With a town set up on the island, the humans and Lycanthropes were at peace with one another, the Dragon’s had become one with their bonded, and the rest of the world remained at bay. They were not charted…
As the Elemental parties grew, Alliances began to emerge and form their rivalries; the first source of serious conflict the island began to see. When a human or lycanthrope was bonded, it wandered farther away from the city; usually living outside the town in camps with their bonded. Rarely did a Dragon bonded have much relation to the town outside of occasional visits and stops. The alliances were much the same; territories set up by the Alliance kings and queens.
The question is, what side are you on?
